SSOD Dancer Named Bulloch County STAR Student

SSOD dancer and Bulloch Academy Senior Ansley Whitlock was named the Bulloch County STAR student at the annual STAR student banquet on Monday, February 3, 2020.
The Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation sponsors the STAR student program. STAR students are high school seniors chosen for having their schools’ highest total score on the SAT exam at a single sitting and must also rank among the top 10% of their graduating class in grade-point average. The county STAR student is the student with the highest SAT score among all of the schools’ STAR students. Ansley scored a 1550 out of a possible 1600 on the SAT. Ansley chose Sommer Shuford, a math teacher at Bulloch Academy, to be her STAR teacher. They both will now represent Bulloch County at the Region 8 STAR luncheon, held in March. County-level winners from 16 school systems in the region are invited to the March luncheon. The Region 8 winner will then advance to the state STAR banquet, to be held later this Spring.
We are so very proud of Ansley and all that she has accomplished! She has not decided on where to attend college yet. Haven already been accepted into the University of Georgia’s Honors Program, she is waiting to hear back from 12 other schools before making her final decision. Ansley is the daughter of Austin and Heather Whitlock and has two younger sisters (Katherine and Harper) who dance at SSOD as well.
